Rate constants and products for the reaction of HBr ÷ with HBr and DBr

چکیده
The proton transfer channel for the reaction of HBr + with HBr is investigated in a state-specific manner by preparing the reagent ion in a selected internal state by resonance-enhanced ionization (REMPI) and monitoring the disappearance of this ion by laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). A rate constant for proton transfer of (6.7 + 1.6) × 10-10 cm3/s is found. The reaction of HBr + with HBr and DBr was also studied in a selected ion flow tube. The reactions were found to be quite complex producing charge transfer, proton transfer, and hydrogen transfer products. The rate constants are (5.3 ___ 1.3) × 10a0 cm3/s for the removal of HBr + by HBr and DBr neutrals. © 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.

THz Rotational Spectra of HBr Isotopomers
We have observed the pure rotational spectra of HBr isotopomers in their v = 0 and v = 1 states between 0.97 and 1.02 THz. i. e. the HBr .7 = 2—1 and the DBr .7 = 4 — 3 transitions, respectively. In the analysis, all presently available rotational transitions of all isotopomers have been fitted to a Dunham-type Hamiltonian to obtain the isotopically invariant parameters, including vibrational a...
متن کاملQuantum dynamics study of energy requirement on reactivity for the HBr + OH reaction with a negative-energy barrier
A time-dependent, quantum reaction dynamics approach in full dimensional, six degrees of freedom was carried out to study the energy requirement on reactivity for the HBr + OH reaction with an early, negative energy barrier. The calculation shows both the HBr and OH vibrational excitations enhance the reactivity. However, even this reaction has a negative energy barrier, the calculation shows n...
متن کاملModified transition state theory and negative apparent activation energies of simple metathesis reactions: application to the reaction CH3 + HBr --> CH4 + Br.
A modified transition state theory (MTST) has been developed for gas-phase reactions with "negative barriers". The theory was applied to the reactions CH3 + HBr(DBr) --> CH4(CH3D) + Br (1a, 1b), which exhibit negative temperature dependences. Accurate ab initio calculations performed with coupled cluster theory extrapolated to the complete basis set limit revealed a transition state located at ...
متن کاملCompetitive halogenation of silicon surfaces in HBr/Cl2 plasmas studied with x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and in situ, real-time, pulsed laser-induced thermal desorption
Using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy ~XPS! and real-time, laser-induced thermal desorption– laser-induced fluorescence ~LD–LIF!, we have determined the coverage of Br and Cl on Si~100! surfaces that are etched in mixed HBr/Cl2 plasmas. Halogen coverages measured by XPS after etching are directly proportional to the fraction of the respective halogen in the feed gas. LD–LIF was detected from S...
متن کاملReaction products with internal energy beyond the kinematic limit result from trajectories far from the minimum energy path: an example from H + HBr --> H2 + Br.
The importance of reactive trajectories straying far from the minimum energy path is demonstrated for the bimolecular reaction H + HBr --> H2(v', j') + Br at 53 kcal/mol collision energy. Product quantum state distributions are measured and calculated using the quasi-classical trajectory technique, and the calculations indicate that highly internally excited H2 products result from indirect rea...
